I have 4 Bala shark, 1 died today :-( ,2 of them has some scales losing, and one of them have a very tiny, black spots from the body to the tail,is this kinda normal?? I lost one today, as mentioned above,I was feeding them this morning when I saw one laying close to the water wheel[ I really don't know what the right term for that,it's a wheel that makes bubbles,oxygen?]l.. Don't know if it something to do with that water wheel thingy..I've tested my PH one it says,6.5 other is 7.5...The KH and the GH is fine..Really don't know what to do,do I have to use PH up or PH down?? I just did a water change 3 days ago!! Pls.any advice!!

Thanks,
AP

We are going to need some more information from you. First of all, what size is your tank, are there other fish besides the bala sharks in it, and how long has it been set up. Do you have a filter in the tank? Most filters are a box that hangs on the back of the tank, or a plate that is put underneath the gravel. What are your water stats, including ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? If you do not have a test kit, take a water sample to the pet store with you, and they will willingly test the water for you.

Hi there,
Just mention my water test above..Yes, I have another fish aside from Bala Shark,I have 5 tiger fish,4 sword tail fish,2 rainbow shark,2 iridescent shark,1 sucker mouth fish,2 clown loach,6 gourami.And yes, I have a filter tank that hangs[power filter?]Tank size is 99 x 47 x 60cm[8mm glass] volume:215L..Filter flow rate:2000l/hr.. My tank is almost a month... Definitely,will get a bigger tank...

Thanks,
AP

when talking about water stats, pH and KH are the least important for 98% of the fish that are kept in home aquariums. Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are the most important, and knowing those levels would be extremely useful. When was the last time you added new fish to the tank?

The tank is a lot to small for those fish... A LOT... those fish would require something in the area of a long 1000 liter tank just to swim normally, irridescent sharks need over 8000 liters and I hope those tiger fish are tiger barbs as tiger fish grow to almost 3 feet and grow giant teeth... for one specimen. Furthermore some of the fish aren't compatible with eachother and there is likely agression between them, especially in a tank that size. I doubt you fully cycled the tank either or even looked into it before purchasing the fish. I hope you search for a lot of info of why what you did is wrong and how to fix it before all the fish die...

Don't use PH minus or PH plus as that will only stress the fish further... go to the pet shop and punch the schmuck that told you to use them

Apologies...Thought they are the most important thing...I am new to this...I put them all together..I cycled the tank for 3 days which I follow my tank "manual"..Then put all my fish together.. Can't return my fish to my LFS... Will get an ammonia, nitrate and nitrite test kit today...

Thanks,
AP

if you don't want to spend the money, and sicne you are getting varriable results, take some water with you to the store, they will test it for you.are the fish scratching on objects in the tank? Also, do me a favor, take a cup of water out of your tank and save it to be tested. Then do a water change. Something is telling me you have poor water quality.
