i have two questions

ok first off what do i do if my fish starts to bleed. or at least it looks like blood. my dempsey bit my cousins jewel cichlid he was keeping it in there for a week wheil he wqs on vacationa nd i loked and red stuff was coming from his head. what do i do?

second i am getting this like tannish red stuff growin ion my rocks what u think it is?

First off.....

The wound as long as it is not to severe should heal on it's own. You must provide absolute perfect water conditions though, or you risk the fish being suseptible to bacterial infections.

You could try putting a little dick boyds VitaChem in the tank or Melafix. Either of these products will help speed up the healing process. I prefer the vitachem myself as it also has an extra vitamin supplement in it.


The tannish red stuff could be a form of algae. Nothing to much to worry about. I myself prefer to have a certain amount algae growing for two reasons...

1. It gives the herbivores in my tanks something to graze on and...

2. I think it makes for a more realistic looking tank.

Keep in mind this is just my opinion.
