I got a early Birthday present yesterday. I got my dream tank. Well, most of it any way. It'll take some time to turn it into the dream tank.
I got my 46g Bowfront. Once I have it fully finnished it will be a heavily planted Gourami tank. All I gotta do is figure out what kind of Gourami I want to have call it home.
You want a real fast way to cycle a tank. I found it (I think). At least in theory this should work. I filled the tank up with 25g of water from a couple of other tanks (compleate with the gunk syphoned from the gravel). I then used the gravel from one of those tanks and put it into the "new" tank. Took a filter from a tank that has been running for a year and put it on the "new" tank. (Don't worry the tank I took the filter off of has 2 fliters on it and I have a new filter for that tank coming. Should have it next week). Needless to say I have fish in it already (only cause I didn't have anywhere else to put them after I drained the tanks they were in last night for the new tank.
At the moment I have a Red flame Dwarf Gourami, 2 female Swordtails, 3 Neon Tetras, 1 Black Neon Tetra, 1 Harliquin Rasbora. Once I move the Cory cats from the 30g I have to the 46 (the tank I bought them for 2 yrs ago for) the tetras and the Harley are going to go into the 30g. I figure at the most I'll have to wait to move catfish around is 2 weeks. I'll keep you posted on how this "cycling" experiment goes.
I got a new toy
