I FINALLY Got Some More Female Bettas, But...

Well, I went to Wal-Mart today to pick up a few items, happened to wander down by the fish isle ( ) and saw that there were several female bettas in one of the tanks. I was so excited because my Wal-Mart NEVER has females...but then I realized what they were in the tank with... Barbs...TONS of Barbs...everything from Tigers to Cherrys...I knew I had to get them out of there. I bought them all, and promply informed the Aquatic help that they need to do a bit more research on their fish.

Three of them seem to be fine...a bit stressed, but otherwise ok. The fourth one is in rather bad shape though. She's smaller than the rest and has her fins just shredded...I hope she's going to make it.

Freshmike, I really feel your pain I do. After seeing your posts about your Wal-Mart females, I was actually happy that my Wal-Mart didn't carry them for the sake of the poor little babies...and now I wish they didn't.

Anyways, here are a few pictures of my new adorable little girls. Let me know what you think of them.

First off, here is the little one that is in bad shape. She seems to be swimming ok, but every now and then she just sits in a plant or on the gravel and just dosen't move. I really hope she'll make it...

Next up is the little pinkish colored one. She's so sweet, but is very skittish and hides whenever I come near the tank...and it's no wonder after what she had to go through.

Here is my little rainbow colored one. She's everything from red to blue to green. She's got some serious stress bars going on, but again...can you blame her?

And finally my favorite little girl. She's such a sweetie and loves the camera, hence the many pics of her.

I just checked on her, and she was near the bottom of the tank, but still swimming. I've got my fingers crossed for her.

Thanks! And yes...Snaily is doing wonderful. He likes his new tankmates....they don't pick on him.

Here are a few updated pics of the little girls.

For those of you who like the rainbow one, here is a pic of her without her stress bars.

The pink one is starting to get some great color on her. She's now got dark red fins and a patch of red on her face.

And the little one with torn fins. Still swimming and getting some beautiful oranges and reds on her.

Oh they're all so beautiful, especially the rainbow one.
I just might have to make my way down to the local Walmart and rescue me one female Betta.

If you can find and rescue some Nisha, I'm sure the little darlings will thank you for it.

Just a little update on the hurt one... She's doing wonderful! I gave them all a few bloodworms as a treat, and after having a few in her corner, she came out and joined the other three. She's now swimming happily around the tank. I think she's gonna make it guys.
