iv got ma pearl arowana 3 weeks ago and ive seen my sail numbers increasing and since its a pearl arow i cannot have a tank mate as it will attact it so im in a bit of a dilema. Ive never notice snails in the tank before

a snail would of ridden in with the arrowana or if you have added any plants.

think they can also stay alive in slightly damp sand so if youve added any from an old tank or something, they could of been in there.

Snails are scavengers, so their numbers have probably risen due to the arrowana's messy eating of high protein foods and things etc. How much do you feed the fish and what? How large is the fish? Try boosting filtration and cut down on food slightly and increase substrate cleaning sessions, no food for the snails to scavenge, no snail population issues.

the fish is around 3" i feed it muscles and cockels and some tadpoles i only feed it a pich of food not much

that's a pretty small arowana... it doesn't still have it's yolk sac, does it?

Why not invest in some sort of Botia loach? I know clowns get to 12" and I'm sure they're not the only ones that get pretty big.
