Hi all,

I am still pretty new to the hobby & would appreciate some advice.

Ive got a 200 litre community tank. Neons, mollies, cories, zebra loaches that sort of thing. Fine gravel about 1.5 inch thick.

Water is spot on zero ammonia, nitrate & nitrites 10. Tap is 7.6ph.

I have had no joy with plants & would really like some! Have tried cabomba (liked it but is fell aprt & made a real mess), Elodea (fell apart).

Bought some Java ferns 1 month ago & they seem to be doing ok (Got some new leaves sprouting off the ends)

Also got a load of Hygrophila difformis at the same time & this has just gone bald & not grown! It looked great when I first put it in but now it looks like awful. Just long thin strands with a few leaves on top!

What can I do, try or change to help thing grow in there?

What filter is running the tank? Plants like good flow, without it they don't get the nutrients they need to grow. Try some Echinodorus, Cryptocorynes & Anubias, that should work out ok. Also what lighting is over the tank?

I've got x2 30w t8 bulbs & a tetratec ex1200 filter in the tank

Should be ok with the above providing the flow is good all round the tank.
