Yesterday was the BIG day at my lfs. For the past few weeks they've been constructing a DIY tank for a certain, special someone. So of course we couldn't miss the big moving day!

My little one checking out the new tank..

The 'reef' area..

They plan to stock it with all kinds of cool spreading corals. I should have taken a picture of the star polyp, it was gorgeous, just barely covered with water at the top. Here's one of MANY clams..

And the lady of the hour after a graceful, two man move...

The reaction was clearly "well, this isn't big enough either" but it will do for now most certainly. Some folks dumped this nurse shark off at my lfs several years ago. I remember when she was so small that she lived in a 55  Then they put her in a 500 gallon and she busted that. So they built this for her. I'm thinking they *might* take out the reef to make more room if they *have* to in the future. But for now she's a happy girl.

I want a tank like this. My 100g looks so small now :p

And just for kicks..

WOW, now thats what i call a predator tank, a proper shark AND a baracuda, i'm off to go sulk for a bit now :(

wow

that's lovely!!!

i love sharks... one day we'll have a house big enough!! we were fantasising the other day about winning the lottery and we'd build a house around a massive (public aquarium type size) tank and the house round it so you'd see into it from every room, it'd be amazing

then we forgot to buy a bloodt ticket again

Oh well, thats a pound saved towards the big tank then

well i actually just checked my savings and i've 148 quid..... were contemplating a marine set u;, got one offered for 150... so for the price of 2 lucky dips we can have it!! first marine tank is the first stage towards a massive shark tank i suppose

Thats mad, ive never seen such a big tank, thats not at a public aquarium....
So is the baracuda in there too?
That tank must be a couple of thousand gals...
Couldnt they just jump out?

They said it was 2,200 gallons. And no, that baracuda lives in an aggressive 500 gallon with lion fish, eels and some mushrooms. It was also dumped about 18 inches ago. I don't know what their future plans are with that thing, I've heard theres been some interest from customers.

It's an awesome tank, I'll update with pics as the reef area progresses. They have gorgeous display tanks so I'm sure this will be stunning in a years time.
Feeding time for the shark has always brought in crowds at 5 PM daily. I'm sure it will even moreso now.

WOW! That is amazing. I can't wait to see the reef as it matures & grows! Make sure to keep us updated, wuv!

Will do. They put an 18" grouper in there as well. But he quickly disappeared in the rockwork. The smaller fish were hilarious, they'd swim up and check out the shark from behind, but as soon as it turned around they were gone!

Very cool. I bet that tank is even more awesome when seeing it in person. That barracuda is awesome! :good:
