Just planning my Mbuna set up at the moment. 260 litre (57 imperial gallons), 4 foot tank.

Currently thinking:

4 Yellow Labs - Labidochromis caeruleus
4 Rusty Cichlids - Iodotropheus sprengerae
4 Yellow Tailed Acei - Pseudotropheus Acei
4 Electric Blue Johannii - Melanochromis Johanni

Plus probably some Synodontis catfish.

Any problems there, any other species you'd reccomend, could I have more of each fish, or is that enough there?

Thanks.

Looks like a good mixture - The only thing i would consider is changing the Johanni for Cyaneorhabdos, they are very similar in appearance but Cyaneorhabdos are much less aggressive than Johanni. :good:

I would say your suggested numbers are spot on if you go for 1 male and 3 females of each species although this is not essential with the labs and Rusties.

agree with ferris, a safe list with no real issues, also if you did keep johannis, you could have too much yellow and orange in the tank (yellow labs + female johannis)

There are truely loads of combinations you could go for this is quite a safe list and probably with the onset of time you could change it a 100 times and still have a good setup

a word on the cat fish i too have a 260L tank, have three multi-p's init, were pretty dormant and not a wise investment. sold them and got 10 petricolas, which are out all the time and is one of the best investments for the tank :good:
