Hello all!
I was wondering how all of you would go about planting/decorating a low tech, 55 gallon fish tank. With 1 watt per gallon.
Pictures/videos are appreciated!

thats a really broad question, but i would start with a sand base, comes in a range of colors, and then get some nice natural driftwood or redmoore, and then select some nice healthy easy plants like java fern, amazon swords, stem plants, to get it going. its really all in the eye of the beholder.

As above but without stems as they are fast growers which isn't good in low tech

id have to disagree, bacopa, egeria, rotalla, are all very basic common stem plants, and ive had easy success with them in low tech tanks. they cant be killed in my experience!

iv gota agree with crazy . i had 3 stem plants and Vallis left the tank for about 2 months they had taken over the hole tank (25w/125L) no co2 no ferts

Well it's up to you but stems in low tech won't look as good as typical low tech plants like ferns which bush up nicely, stems grow much more thin in low tech as they shoot for the light which makes the stem long but leaf growth short

Like this....

Nothing more than fish poo and 1wpg, can't actually name any of the plants though. They are all quite happy i think. Certainly all of them are growing, the red ones lost a few leaves for a bit but new ones are coming and the fern type plants have a good inch of new growth towards the light, which is on for a solid 12hours a day.

Edit, the goldfish has been re-homed to a 125L tank, there are 18harlequins and 6 panda's in there now.
