cool should i increase the temp? if so what to. it is at 25c now. and should i do a water change before adding the meds?

Yes increase the temp by a little bit and do a 20% water change daily

Try following the link I have in my signature area called ich info. The author there takes great pains to explain the life cycle of the ich parasite so that you can better understand what to expect from your ich medications. Higher temperatures are almost always prescribed along with an ich treatment to shorten the ich life cycle. Treatment after all signs of disease are gone is better understood if you understand when an ich parasite is vulnerable to the medication and how that fits into the parasite's life cycle.

well i bought some ick treatment and followed the instructions on the box, my only concern is that it recommends removing the carbon portion of my filter, i did but i am worried about ammonia and nitrite spikes, i have a test kit but am not sure whether the medication will change the result of the tests..it says do a water change 3 days after the second dosage. want to make sure i do everything the correct way..

Carbon doesn't remove ammonia or nitrites anyway, unless you've had it in the tank for a long while and it's working as a biofilter. You do need to take the carbon out of your filter as it will just absorb all the medication and it won't be able to do any good.

I'm not sure if the meds will affect your test results or not; I'd just do what water changes you feel you need to do and dose as per the instructions.

You will do fine in your fish treatment. I never use carbon in my own filters unless I want to remove traces of medication. Since you are actively treating your water, do not use any carbon until several days after the last ich treatment is made. That way you will not reduce the effectiveness of your ich treatment prematurely. I would again suggest that you visit the ich reference site that I link to in my signature. If you do not do an ich treatment properly, it will stress your fish while providing zero long term benefit for them. That is a situation I would like us all to avoid.
