Hello,

I have a 75 gallon reef tank that I am setting up. I once saw a dosing system that would draw the calcium straight from the bottle and drop it in to the sump through a small tube. Can someone recommend a good calcium doser that will work in this fashion. I don't want to spend a million dollars tthough.

Thanks for your help.

you either saw a kalk dripper or a calcium reactor. Kalk dripper is a cheap and effective way, but can be dangerous (easy to overdose) and can take a bit of adjusting before you can get the right amount. On the other hand, a calcium reactor can be more reliable, but much much much more expensive in the long run (and on day one since reactors are so expensive).

Whats your calcium problem? Normally calcium reactors are only used in super sps tanks that grow sps corals as fast as xenia....

My main problem is am just not sure as to how I shoudl dose my tank with calcium. I am planning on having a hard coral tank but it is only 75 gallons. I have no idea were to go from here.

Sounds like you are describing some sort of reef doser. If you want to dose the tank with liquid additive then get some peristaltic pumps on timers to give the tank a premeasured dose at a calculated frequency. This can easily be adjusted on the timer as your tank needs more calcium.
This idea can go across the range of additives and be used for Alk/buffer, Magnesium and trace elements.
PM me if you would like more info.
