I am worried about cleaning my betta bowl and stressing him out by removing him from his home every week. Is there an easy way for me to remove him without stressing him out too much?

Thailand people invented this thing call a "betta scoop" that holds water so when you transfer your bettas they feel comfortable in their own water and not become stress out.

Scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you'll see it. That's just one example while others are made from coconut, plastic, or banana leaves shaped into a scoop.

I just use a net I found at my LFS that is made for brine shrimp/small fry... it's a super soft material so the fish don't experience any discomfort when being scooped up. My bettas are so used to their weekly water changes that they're barely stressed at all (except for a couple of weirdos who freak out every time ) Most just let me scoop them up easily, sit quietly in the cup watching and waiting for me to finish cleaning their tank, then go right back to their regular routine once I pop them into their clean water. Even the ones that go bonkers every time get over it in a matter of minutes.

If you just use a little care you'll limit the amount of stress on the betta. They are going to feel some amount of stress but this is very normal and should pass very quickly.

I don't think you shoudl be harsh with them..but I don't think you should be dainty with them either.

IMO it is like with children and being super quiet around them while they sleep...you shouldn't do that. The pickier you are with the fish the more stress prone you are going to make them.

Just scoop them up in a net, but make sure that the neat is wet before you touch them with it (dry nets are rather..prickly).

If you don't chase them around and around you aren't going to stress them. Best way is to come up underneath them...most never see it coming.
I do have a few though, that I have to corner with the glass...I get them to go deep into the net by simply tapping lightly in front of them..that makes them back up enough that I can finished scooping them out.
