How many tiger barbs could I have in my 29 gallon tank. I have 5 corys in there right now and I was wanting to do a tiger barb only tank. Thanks.

Probably around 10 or so but I'll warn you that you can't for the most part add any other fish except for some other semi-aggressive. They are quite aggressive for their size, and persistent fin nippers.

I would say 10 is a conservative estimate, I reckon up to 15 would be absolutely fine presuming the corys are re-homed (you say barb only so I'm guessing they corys are being rehomed?)

If the cories have to be rehomed I guess I would move them. I have a 10 gallon tank I could put them in. I also have a 20 gallon but that has my firemouth cichlids in there which are quiet mean at times.

Defiantly don't but the corries in with the chiclids that would be dinner time :shifty:

I was thinking the same thing, Sorry about that I forgot to mention what type of corys they are. They are Corydoras paleatus AKA peppered corys.

I reckon peppereds would do ok with the tigers... they're relatively tough. However do scale down the number of barbs until they're mature and you know the bioload is ok.

So 10 Tigers and 5 Corys. With there being 10 tigers they should hopefully keep the bickering between themselves anyways :)

Thats what I thought, the corys seem to be trying to start a fight with the barbs always following them around and whatnot. Pretty funny. Would tiger barbs eat earthworms?

If you know its a clean earthworm, without pesticides you could try it but your best to stick with frozen bloodworms. I'm not entirely sure they are big enough to take on a good sized earthworm.

Haha it would look funny watching a barb swimming around with a worm stickin out its mouth.

Ok so latley I have noticed some aggression between my firemouths, one of them is getting bullied by the other. The bullied firemouth always has a dull look to it and I was wondering if I could move it to my 29 gallon. I worry about the firemouth and the corys though..

how big are the firemouths

i wouldnt risk it the corys could be lunch
