Hello all,

I'm currently cycling my tank and am getting close to the end now, so I'm beginning to look into plants.

I've got a 60L tank, measuring roughly 60x30x35cm.

I've seen some sellers on eBay and the like selling packs of plants, with say 25 or 50 plants in. I think one plant is just one stem. My plan is to get one of these packs to start me off, then buy from the LFS whatever feels is missing.

How many plants would you say would be a good idea to start off with in one of these packs? Going for a triangle scape, with tall plants to the back left, smaller plants front and right, and stuff in between. I've got a lovely piece of rooty wood for the plants to grow on and around, as well as some homemade coconut caves. Also going for a low-tech environment. Apart from pruning and adding the occasional fertiliser to the water (any recommendations on that?), I want something I'm not gonna have to do much to or provide much for apart from light.

what lighting do you have over the tank?

Just be a little careful with the package plants from ebay, you may end up with some non aquatic plants.

Can't say I know an awful lot about the lighting other than what I've found by googling my tank. Apparently' its a Sunglo 15w Fluorescent Bulb, if that means anything to you.

If thats the lighting then going the low tech route will be perfect for your tank. :good:

I suspect I may end up with my plants arriving before my cycle is fully finished, but that should give me plenty of time to ID them before I put them in my tank to make sure there aren't any non-aquatic ones sneaking in there.

How many do you think I should buy to get me started?
