Hiya guys and gals.   I was wondering whats a good MAX number of fish for a 20 gallon tank?  I have 5 fish in it now, and after a few run-ins with slim and other stuff, all five fish are living happily  :)
My current fish are
1 elephant nose
1 jappaness alge eater
1 shark typ fish
2 colored tetras

I was wanting to add just one more, another elephant nose to keep the one I have company, because he doesnt socialize with any of the other fish, and I thought getting another one would give him a buddy..

So do you think a 20 gallon tank can't hold 6 fish comfortably?

The fish you have and want should do fine in the tank you have. I would say that theres plenty of room for small fish as well. If your having lots of problems I think it could originate for the place you bought the fish. There is not that great a strain on your tank.

I agree.

1 more elephant nose. I reckon you could also get away with a small shoal of small fish eg tetras.

Let me know my tank is 20 (UK) gallons.

I have:

6 platies
6 guppies
2 plecos (1 is soooo small he is cute :) ) the other is regular size you buy from petstore.
2 applesnails.

I plan to get as well 6 neon tetras and 6 harlequin rasboras. Will that be too much?

William
