just came back from petsathome with a nice piece of bogwood, now i haven't used wood in my tank before so i dont know what to do, it says on the label to soak it but doesn't say for how long, could you help?

put it in a bucket of water, change the water daily until the water's clear....... depending on the wood will take a week n a half/2 weeks :D

ok thnx miss wiggle, i dont think it will take that long because of the size of wood :)
ill just have to wait

no probs, just wait n see, not just the size of the wood that makes a differences

i've had 1 piece i tried unsucessfully to soak several times, just won't come clear! given up a few times but kept the wood, given it to my fella to try and sort out now :)

but i've just finished doing 2 really small bits, they took a week n a half

if you lose patience , you can put it in your tank , it will discolour the water but this is harmless to the fish .

aye i know, i did that but it discoloured the water really badly and despite regular water changes it was still bad several months later

thought i'd take it out and soak it again and after a few weeks it still wouldn't come clear..... got fed up of it!
