How long do live foods like brine shrimp and blood worms stay alive? Do I need to provide them with anything but a tupper-wear to live in? Do I have to poke holes in the lid? (please say no, they stink sooo bad)

live foods can live for a fair while but you probably want to use them within a few weeks of buying them. keep them refrigerated as this will slow down their motabolism and thus increase their life span. blood worm are easy to see if they are dying, they will start becoming brown in aperance rather than the vivid red they are when they are really fresh ... and erm ... they stop moving :D

I thought brine shrimps are salt water creatures? If that's the case, they can't last very long in a fresh water.

At least the hatched brine shrimps live in the salt water, so they don't generally live longer than few hours in fresh water.

I was asuming he meant how long they can last in the bags tey are bought in. not in the tank itself. apologies if I misunderstood.
