My guppie had babies about 2-3 or maybe even 4 weeks ago. I wanted to know when they will be big enough to go into my community tank without being eaten.
first off, congrats on the new fry its always great havin babies. Ive rared a few groups of fry, but its more a question of when they get big enough to not be eaten lol. The rate at which they grow depends alot on diet and temperature of water and so times can be different, but it takes a good good few weeks
I have another tank (20 gal) with more guppies and a rope fish (who likes to hide inside a log). ALso I have another question...my guppies keep having swim bladder problems (they swim up then they fall back down, then swim up and fall back down and eventually they just die) how can I fix this?
Rope fish may try to eat them from time to time, but if they keep away then they may be ok.
As for the swim bladder it's impossible to help with out water quality checks, ammonia, nitrite and nitrates checks
Do u do regular water changes, if so how often and what hardess is your water?
we have officially started doing water changes each week. Thankfully all the other guppies seem perfectly healthy. I even have another pregnant one. We're gonna give some of the babies to our local pet store. They'll be really pretty!!
In your other thread, you are losing adult guppies every week in that tank and appear to have an uncycled tank. I love it when my livebearers give me a gift of new fry but lots of big water changes are in order on both your 20 and on whatever it is that has the fry in it right now. Weekly water changes are not nearly often enough for a relatively new tank or for fry no matter how old the tank.
