hi guys,

How is this for a 120l tank?

Currently:
X2 albino tiger barbs
X4 boesemani rainbow fish

Soon:
X2 albino tiger barbs
X6 boesemani rainbow fish
X1 electric blue ram

About a few months later:
X2 pearl gourami
X1 electric blue ram
X6 boesemani rainbow fish

Is this ok? Thanks guys.

You have some issues here, in the present and proposed stocking.

First, the tank is only 120 liters (roughly 30 gallons). The length is important (the Boesemani rainbows are active swimming fish, and need a group of at least 6 with more better) and a 4-foot tank is recommended. I will assume this tank is probably 30 inches in length, or at most 36? This is going to be tight for fish that will attain over 3 inches (females) and 4 inches (males).

Aside from the above, I would not recommend any cichlids in with such active fish, as this can be unsettling. There is also the Albino Tiger Barbs, another active swimmer, and these can nip fins of sedate fish like cichlids. The gourami are not advisable for the same reasons.

With the present fish, I would suggest removing the Albino barbs (kept in such small numbers they are even more prone to turn nippy), adding two more Boesemani, and that is all.

Byron.

Thank you Byron, as you can see I am planning to do so anyway but it's a shame that the ram would not be happy. Ok well I shall do so Byron.
