A simple question, how fish stores are able to house different species of gouramis, in a tank with no plants, hidding places or anything??

I was at a LFS early and they had in the same tank a lot of dwarf gouramis that are suppose to be aggressive with other males, and some blue gourami that are more aggressive and is suppose to kill smaller gouramis, but they just seen fine they simple ignore each other.

In my case, its usually because the fish are usually young. At this age they are fine, but as they grow, they become increasingly intolerant of other Gouramis.

It's also partly because there's no plants or decorations in there; there's no way for any of the fish to set up any kind of territory. The fish are also much more crowded than they would be in any home aquarium which shares the aggression around (as is done with mbuna).

NOTE- That comment is not to encourage small overstocked tanks with lots of fish in it

Of course, you are quite right

Don't forget that most FLS have huge great filtration systems out back too ;the small tanks are just for convenient viewing and catching purposes
