I have some stem plants which are looking a little ugly - the top half is always fine, growing really fast stretching for the surface. But the bottom half has lots of stringy white bits coming off from it.

If i cut the top off to its a little lower again, will the bottom half dot its self out? Or should i cut and plant the top part, pull out the bottom, and replant the top part?

Thanks

Are they rooting from the stems?

Pretty common with stem plants, they send out roots from the stem.

As for propagating it, just cut it where at the desired height and replant the cutting, it will root itself.

Yeh they are rooting from the stems....does not look good. Anything i can do about it?
If i cut and replant, will the bottom bit....the old bit.... still grow?

Yes, both bits will grow, cut just above a set of leaves on the stem, then a new part of the stem will grow from that set of leaves.

Im also havin this problem, but i dont want to cut mine as they are not as tall as I need them yet, should i just leave them?

You can cut the roots but they will come back, I found that a nutrient rich substrate or roots tabs help a little with this problem. I had pogostemon erectus that done this and after adding a couple of root tabs they didn't come back.
