what do you need for a high tech planted set up in a 25l tank? the lighting is currently only 8watts so i figure that will need upgrading the thing that i am unsure about the most is the co2 and nutrients as for the co2 im aware there are 2 sorts liquid and gas which is easier? and do they both do the same job or is one better than the other? i have also read that plants need higher nutrients when injecting co2 is there one bottled product that gives them all of these or do i need to buy a few different ones?

sorry for all the questions :good:

Keep the light the same. No need to use more.
Yes there is a liquid carbon product and you can inject gaseous CO2. CO2 via gas is better but you'll do fine with liquid carbon. You are right about the nutrients. You could get tropica plant nutrition+ as this contains macro and micro nutrients. There are other versions if this. For example, fluidsensor sell an alternative on their website. I think its call TCN something...
Water changes should be large and weekly.
As soon as a tank us given any form if carbon supplement it is deemed to be high tech

I am running an 8W T5 on a 35 litre tank and am currently dosing 1.75mls of TPN+ and 0.75mls of Flourish excel. I am currently doing 2 25% water changes a week. Working fine so far!

ordered some TPN+ and some easycarbo of ebay also bought some root tabs and some fluval substrate soil stuff (no idea of the name forgot it)

LOL! Nothing like going the full hog!

You may want to consider capping the substrate with some gravel or sand to help with the release of any ammonia into the water column and also keep more of the nutrients in the substrate. Work out how much you need to dose of both products each week and split it up into 7 amounts and that will give you the dose rate per day. I am also doing 25% water changes twice a week. :good:

you were getting Excel weren't you minnt? Easycarbo is dosed at 1ml per 50ltrs. I personally wouldn't go over this to begin with.
