I have 2 mollies - 1 Platinum Lyretail Molly (black) and 1 silver sailfin Molly, Not to sure but I think the black one is the female and the silver one is the male. Will they breed or do I need to get the same breed?

If they do is there anything I need to do to get them to breed or will nature take it's course?

Sue.

Just keep the adults happy and well fed and they'll breed naturally - they are very easy to breed :) . I'm not sure how many shops will be willing to take the hybrid offspring you produce as since they are easy to breed shops usually just keep the pure strains. But they are certainly fun to breed. :)

If you want fry to survive then I would get... a net breeder (mesh not plastic if possible) for when the fry and born to put them in to stop them getting eaten. Some plants - make a planted corner in the tank for the fry to hide in before you scoop them out with a net into the net breeder. Also some marbles in a corner will help a little. When searching for babies you will often find them hidden under rocks and driftwood in the early stages of their life. Feed them on very finely crushed fish flake. Any more questions let us know :) Good luck!
