I already have a tank with tetras, barbs and rasboras, however, I was wondering whether they are a little difficult to keep.

(they will be put in another tank)
I know they don't get along with some other fish

Thanks

I have been considering Discus for a while now, All I would say is do lots of research before you decide about keeping Discus.

In addition to what was stated in that post:

- Recommended tank size is 55+ gallons (I prefer 75+G) with a school size of 6 or more.
- Tall tanks are recommended since these fish are quite large vertically
- Recommended that you purchase from a breeder as the ones in pet stores are often not very high quality.
- Can be picky eaters...ask the breeder what they were being fed...you may have to prepare the breeders food for a while until the fish can be weaned onto new foods
- Oto's are not recommended with Discus as they will sometimes attach themselves to the Discus to munch on their slime coat
- Discus are a "grazing" fish, so you have to leave food in the tank longer than normal.
- I have heard of people keeping some Discus in pH of up to 8.2 successfully

Discus do need very very clean water...so please take your own aquarium maint habits into consideration.

Yip! Discus need exceptionally clean water to thrive. You are looking at water changes every 2-3 days absolute minimum to keep them happy IMO. Lovely fish, but a little bit high maintenance. Good luck! :good:
