My 1st tank came with a filter system built into the hood, which basically has 2 reservoirs with a power head attached to a spray bar circulating the water into the hood then back to the tank.
Could I use this as a hatchery & for fry? If I was to remove all the filter media & replace the solid reservoir separator with some thing made of mesh to allow water flow but keep the fry in. there would be a constant flow of clean heated water coming from the tank, apart from light which could be provided by opening the flap it would be similar to keeping them in a net within the main tank
It is a 91 litre (20 UK gallons) tank, in addition to the hood filter (?) I have an internal Tetratec filter that would then be the main filtration possibly & if necessary I would add another internal filter.
I am new to all this & have probably overlooked something so is this a workable idea.
Please understand I have no intention of placing adult fish in there, just rescued eggs.

do you intend on keeping the lid onthe box filter?
if so then the fry would have no access to any air,
if not how will you prevent the powerhead spraying your celing with a cloumn of water?

nice idea in theory but in pratice I don't see it is possible.

BTW which GPS tank is that is it a 761?

The lid can stay up some of the time, as you can see from my signature picture there are cats on the prowl so it couldn’t be left while I was away. Would a small air block do the trick?
There isn’t a problem with spray as it’s directed down via the spray bar.
The tank is a Via-aqua 620
