I just got a 20H tank that has a standard 18' bulb. i would like to put all my excess plants in this tank with only shrimp and ottos. i have a few extra 18' t8s around the house (flouraglo, aquaglo, etc.) but i cant find a hood that will house 2 18' t8 bulbs. any ideas?

You could make one or you can buy a dual fixture. I personally would make a fixture, but probably would use a different bulb type unless your really set on T8's.

how would i go about making one? im not set on the t8 bulbs i just have a lot of extra laying around.

You could make one with plastic lego, i've always fancied doing that. With a little castle on top, with battlements and lots of knights with plastic swords.

I like the way you think Tizer, but sadly, making one (or getting one made) is probably the only way. I had trouble getting two T5's into a hood, and that's far from perfect now.

Duplo would go for a quicker, simpler build if you're not skilled enough at DIY for Tizer's suggestion though.

any link for a diy aquarium hood or fixture? 15W 18000k doesnt sound right for a tank as deep as a 20H. also... i thought 18000k was for corals, but it says on the package: for planted aquariums , do not use with coral???

so i just got a glass canopy and an extra dome. cant believe i just figured that out... lol
