ive had a male for about3 weeks and a couple of days ago i gt a female thats smaller and the bigger one keeps nipping her is this them just settling in and him showing hes boss or is he bulling her

is that how you have sexed the fish? seeing which one is bigger than the other?

the way to sex honey gouramis is that the different colours the male goes when breeding and the male has a more pointed fin.

do you need help on sexing the gouramis? send us a pic in if so and we will help

if you have a male and female, the male will probably be chasing the female around to breed, this may stress the female out you may have to get another female if this bullying still accures over a 48 hour period (even though some may say shorter or longer.) then id definatly get another female asap to help prevent too much stress for your female.

male in breeding condition gets a deep blue line beneath his eye and a ddep blue line on his bottom fin

when neather of them have that the man at the lfs said it was the distance between there anal fin and tail if its close its male if its far away its female (it could of been the other way round) is that true

The Male is more colorful than the female in most instances. Near adult hood it is plainly visable.

well we dont know because we havent seen the fish to now how old they are, can you post in a picture or anything?



thinking bout it, if the lfs sold the fish then surely they will be old enough to sex?

the males top fin will be much pointy than the females and the colour of them would be different, pictures would help

i dont think i will be able to get a good enough pic of its fin my camra broke so it would be on my phone and its only 2mp

im 99 % sure there male and female and there getting along fine now i think he was just showing her whos boss.
is there a way to incorage them to breed?
