Hello! This is my first time in this forum , my name is Ravynn! I recently had my goldfish die of dropsy , I can't live without fish. I left some filter media in the filter , but it wasn't enough to help it cycle more. I'm currently doing the fishless cycle and the ammonia is 1.5ppm.So I set up a tropical tank with rocks , an ornament , some fake blue coral , power filter that is turned on high , a heater that is automatically set to 80 F ...some people have been telling me that if I don't want my Honey Gourami's to breed (Which I don't because I don't have time & money) then I have to get all males. But , some people are saying don't get all males because they can get territorial. Well , what combo then? I am also getting 2 Panda Cory Catfish to clean up after them as well! (10 gallon tank)

This is so confusing , I don't know where my posts are or anything. :\ Anyway , I want to get 4 Honey Gourami's in my 10 gallon tank. It's currently going throw the fishless cycle with the heater at 80F , filter current - strong (will change when get fish) , rocks , 1 ornament , and will be getting a live plant after cycle. Ammonnia is currently at 1.8ppm. I don't want to breed them , and someone suggested getting all males. But then someone said they may get territorial! What combo then?

Hi

No get all females! Males may very well fight (though my 2 females bicker)but females shouldbe fine. With fish such as Platys you're still taking a fish getting females coz they'll prob already be pregnant but it's not the same with Gouramis.

Yes don't get more than 1 male gourami in a ten gallon. 1 male and 3 females will prevent territorial fights but might result in breeeding. I don't have this problem since I only have one gourami along with other species of fish. Keep the panda cory with a group of at least 4 since they like to remain in groups and are more active.

Good luck.
