Hiding platys.

I just bought two new platies as part of a breeding project I want to start. They won't come out of hiding though! I have checked the water parameters, no ammonia, no nitrite. I have no idea why they stay hidden all the time!

well if you just bought them, you have to give them time to settle down and get used to their surroundings. you have them in the 50 gallon, right? so there are a bunch of other fish there and they're probably feeling shy. platies and actually pretty shy fish by nature

I bought two platies to go in my 5 gallon community tank, and it took nearly two weeks for them to get over their shyness. Just be patient and they'll come out

I was wondering if it might be my Gold Gourami. He seems to have taken over the tank and sometimes chases the other fish. So I transfered him to my 20 gallon and put my Dwarf Gourami in the 55. I will see if that makes a difference.
