Hi everyone, am new to the forum, found it while trying to get some ideas for my new tank
Basically, have had a pretty wide variety of tanks, from the basic community setups, to my last big malawi setup and allsorts in between. Had the malawis for years, and as a result not done much with anything else in that time, so probably need to brush up on a few things! Anyhows, due to a variety of resons, excluding my pond, am now fishless, and tankless, but, will be getting a little 2ft tank in the next few weeks. Gone in a complete circle now, started off with something similar, and ended up getting bigger and bigger tanks and am now back onto the small stuff!! lol. Anyway, am thinking of trying a heavily planted aquarium this time - have always liked them, but it was pointless adding plants with malawis! So, as a new challenge, am going to try the heavily planted route, as have never tried this before. Ideally want to get this tank, even without fish to be stunning, and then will add a handful of fish to complement it. Not really wanting to go down the tetra/danio etc route, ideally just want a few "somethings" that are unusual, and are really going to set it off. Obviously, space is limited, which in turn limits my choices, and ideally nothing too destructive. Any ideas?
Did have in mind possibly a blue crayfish (but am struggling to find out exactly how big they get, some places say 1 ft, some as low as 6 inches, and then there is the question of destructiveness), and/or red crabs (but again, destructiveness is a worry). Possibly some shrimps, maybe a small variety of puffer. Obviously not looking at mixing these, but it gives an idea of the kind of things that I'm looking at. Problem is that there are that many possibilities out there, and I've only been focused on malawis for so long, I'm struggling to get a definate plan of what will be going in there in my head! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Stu
