Hi another newbie here, ive been lurking  for a few days and thought it was about time i said hi. I am so new in fact that I dont even have a tank yet! thought i would research before i made my purchase.

I have learnt so much from you guys, I love looking at the pictures of your tanks which has given be inspiration. I have read all the bad stuff that can happen and i hope i can learn from this. I cant wait to start, im off on holiday next week so will get stuck in when i return!

So any advice on where to start? I hope to have a natural/planted community tank, although i love Angels and Neons which i have learnt from here may not be an option.

I have been mentally rearanging the living room to fit in the biggest aquarium i can. I have a very sturdy sideboard that a 4' tank would fit perfectly on, not sure if this is my first no no and should get one with its own stand?

If this isnt an option I will have to go for something smaller was thinking Juwel lido 120l or fluval 90.

Anyway, hope to learnt much more an use this brilliant forum!

:hi: :- :kana: hey welcome to the fourums tbh a side board wont really support a 4ft tank it will break it 1ce full of water also make sure u take a look at the begginers guiede
to find out more :fish:

:hyper: :hyper:  :-( :hey: :hey: Welcome to TFF the majority of your aquatic problems will be solved here.

Its really good you have come here before buying yoir tank. You will get all the best advice now rather than trying to rectify something you may not have known. Alot of people say angels and neons dont mix, although I do keep them both, cardinals are a better option. You will also need a 18" tall tank if you can, as angels are tall themselves.

Good luck

hi there and welcome to the forum!! :hi:

not sure if your sideboard would hold the weight of a 4ft tank?? would you perhaps be able to re-enforce it in some way?? if you are unsure it is probably best to buy a tank with a purpose made stand. don't want any accidents!! could be an expensive (and very messy!!) accident!! let us know what you decide on and how you are getting on. we will be happy to help with any queries and have a look in the beginners section...it has some great advice!!

L :good:

welcome to the forum! Have a good look around and don't be afraid to ask questions, we're a friendly bunch.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I recently had a table I had a tank on smash which sent water and glass everywhere so I would suggest buying tank and stand together. If your buying a new tank then it will be no problem in getting the correct stand.
I've never been able to keep angels along with neons or cardinals myself but I know some who do. It just doesn't work for me, they end up as food.

:hi: to the forums! I would say for you to buy a stand for your tank if you buy the 4 foot one. The thing is 10 gallons = 100lbs. That means that tank will nearly weigh 1000 lbs. To put that into perspective that is half the size of a full grown elephant! :hyper:

Also that is not even including all of your decorations. ;)

wow, you are so right that is a lot of weight! those tank stands really dont look that special, guess they must be!

Yeah I am still surprised at how much those stands can hold! :D

welcome to the forum. And yes me too.i sugest buy a cabinet for your tank if you can.Play safe.
Believe me i saw a tank crash to the floor due to much weight when i was a kid.Not a pretty sight.
As for the Angels with neons me too i also had them togheter with not a single problem.Just put them togheter when they are young.I'm actually planning to do it again on my new tank.

My advice use the net, read as much as you can.Any doubts.Post here,we are happy to help you.

Don't do some of the crazy mistakes i did when i started.
