My guppy is swimming at the bottom of the tank and has been doing so for the past three days. I'm not sure what's wrong. Is he depressed? There are two other guppies, a baby and a large female. There are also two tetras and an albino cory. He doesn't appear to be swimming sideways or brushing himself against the gravel. He just swims around at the bottom and rests periodically.

Help?

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Does he look bloated or thin.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Does he look pale or darker in colour.
Is he actling listless and lethagic.
Can he maintain balance in the water.
What do you feed your fish.

10 gallons

ammonia 0.0
nitrates 0.0
ph 7.6

Maybe a little thin
Looks fine swims normally
Color is normal
Breathing is slightly rapid
Maintains balance just fine
Feed is a flake food, pellet, and occasionally freeze dried brine shrimp

is the nitrite reading 0.
What test kit are you using.

Keep a look out for when he goes to the toilet. Also the rest of the fish.
Does his anus look enlarged or red and inflamed.

Is it possible to load a pic up of him onto the site.
Need to rule out internal parasites.

Has he lost weight due to not eating.
How old is he.

Yes. I'm using the API testing kit for my tank.
No, it does not look inflamed or enlarged.

I'll get pics as soon as my battery charges.

You given an nitrate reading of 0. Do you mean nitrite.

Sorry about not posting sooner, my computer fizzed out on me.

Reposted stats

nitrate: 20
nitrite: 0
harness: 75
chlorine: 0
alakalinity: 120
pH: 7.0

Still swimming at the bottom, not much has changed. He does change position frequently, though. Not really sure if he eats, I put shelled peas in yesterday but I never saw him go for them. Although I came back an hour later, they were gone. No idea what he looks like when he uses the bathroom.

Forgot to add the pictures

Once guppys lay on substrate for long periods they rarely make it.

All you can do is issolate and try a bacterial med, bless him.

He's still going, but now showing signs of finrot. I understand, though. If worse comes to worse I'll do what I must. Thanks Wilder.

Update: He's now swimming at the surface! His balance doesn't look too throws off. His top end goes up some, but he doesn't seem to be drifting off to the sides. ??Uh?? This sucker isn't going down without a fight.

Bless him. Let me know how he gets on.
Good Luck.

The little guy lives! He's doing so much better. I've seen him eat, he swims around more, and he is no longer resting on the bottom of the tank.

Ok. That's good news.
Are you using a med, if so what it called.
How long have you been using the med?

Yes, I am using melafix. I've been using it for three days. I'll be putting more in tonight.
