The place I like to order fish from has this one listed

Heros, sp. "Iniridae" "Super Severum" F 1, 1.25", $10.00

Can anyone tell me about this fish? Can't find anything on line other than Inridae may be the location it was caught and I found on video of on on You Tube.

Is this just a wild severum caught in the Inirida river? Just looking around the web I realize the species classification for this fish is confusing. Also what is F-1. Is that wild caught or first generation?

Thanks.

Yup you got it. Inrida is a river were it was caught. It is just a wild caught green severum. They do the same thing with wild discus they name then after the place they are found. Like the tefe green discus is just a green discus but from the tefe lake. They are all the same kind of fish but can be a little different depending on where they are from.

I'm assuming that this is the smaller Heros mouth brooder and not the more common Heros efasciatus, Snowflake, is the green Heros efasciatus the bigger growing one that includes the red and gold variations?

Why do you suppose he calls this a super severum? I do have an email into the supplier too.

Can you tell there may be a twinkle in my eye. (Yes, no, don't do it, yes no yes, don't) :hyper:

I don't think it is a mouth brooder as far as I now there is only one like that the heros severus. From the photos that came up when I searched it I would say it's just a wild green. But like Hamfist said F1 means not wild but parents were. I would be a stunning fish I bet because wilds always tend to be special in a way.

Where are you going to put it? Is it time to shop for that bigger tank? ;)

Edit:
How did I miss the supper red part when I saw this the first Time. Yes I think you are right it's a hero Severus the mouth-brooding kind.

It doesn't say super red... it just says super severum.

Wetspot Tropicals has it. I emailed over there to see what the heck super severem is supposed to mean.

Of course I don't have room for adults but my rotkeil is 2.5 inches at the moment and I am getting a larger tank 100 or so this summer. It is for certain. My gift to my self when I finish my hours of licensure as a therapist. I'll break the 60 down and store it until I get my own office and replace the 29 with it.

You interested in an order? :grr:

Oops I can't read .

Haha I don't have room for any more fish or I would order.

Let us know what they say this severum is.
