Hero’s liberifer with plants

I’m wondering if hero’s liberifer will eat all the plants in my 50 gallon tank.

Simple answer, yes. Well... probably. I had one for 8 years and I managed a few plants for a while but eventually had to give up. I did find when I first got her she ignored the plants that were already there but then if I added anything it got munched.

Beautiful fish though - actually saw some today at an LFS and had my heart strings pulled!

What if vallisneria was there when it moved in?

I had other herbivores in the tank like Annostomus but when I tried Vallisneria even the giant types they got nibbled off at the base and I got floating plants. Your best bets are tough leaves epiphytes like Java Fern, Anubias and Bucephalandra or Amazon Swords could be a safe bet, fast growing stem plants might be an option I got a real jungle of Hygrophilla Siamensis 53b at one point.
