Hermits

I know i need to provide different shells for hermits. But where do I get them from? Just wondering, thanks

Im lucky enough to have a lfs that keeps large quantities of washed shells of variying sizes. I also have a beach that i can find loads of different shells so its not a real issue for me. I know that there are people further inland that dont have the luxury i do but they seem to be able to get shells fromtheir lfs with no rael problems.

If this is still a problem then i know that there are sellers on ebay that can provide these shells.

about what size shells should you add. Are we talking very large or just around the same size as when you get the hermits?

Anything larger than their current shell is fine. The new shells I put in for my two hermits were atleast double the size of their last ones. And i actualy watched as they fought over the biggest. They will moult after, and fit fine.

not any bigger shell will work, it has to have a symilar opening (no cowry shells) and it has to be within a few millimeters to a centemeter bigger than the current shells. while hermits can handle shells that are way to huge for them they won't be able to graze and scavange as efficiently.
