If your anything like me you have a pump thats a few years old and the rubbers have basically dissappeared, my pump is only 2 years old and the rummber are worn right down, there is nothing left. So heres how to get it silent for basically free. Take 2 or three paper towels. Rip them apart and fold each of them in half then half again. You should then have a skinny looking towel. You then fold that in half lenghtwise and then sort of fold/cut it to your pump size. stack all three on top of each other and i your pumpis against a wall or glass you may want to do anther to wedge in there.

i used to use a normal towel! how safe that was with over heating i'm not sure!

What i've done to get rid of all vibrations is i got one of these bungee strap things which has hooks on each end. Its only about 7 inchs long but you can stretch it loads. Anyway i got a screw hook and screwed it under my tank inside the cabinate. Then i attached one end to the bungee and the other ond of the bungee to the pump so that its hanging in the air. The bungee absorbs all the vibrations, and cos its not sitting on anything, there is no vibrations at all.
