What kind are the tetras? If they're about 1.5-2 inches long, you should be fine with at least them, guppies and platies.

I'm not sure of the mollies. They grow too big for a 13 gal tank in my opinion, and I think adding them to that tank would make it a bit too full.

The normal stocking guide is 1" of fish for each gallon, which applies to fish under 3". Larger fish should be stocked at 1" of fish for each (at the most) 5 gallons of water. So you're choices will be very limited.

FYI, Neon and Cardinal tetras are very sensitive to water parameters, like ammonia and nitrites. So it's best to introduce them in a tank that is well established (stocked with other fish) after 2 months or so.

Ok. Thanx! Don't worry, my Dad is setting up a bigger tank, soon...about a fifty gallon, so maybe I could fit some Mollies or swordtails in there :D

I got four guppies and two platys atm. They seem good. One of my guppies looks like a lepord :hooray: ...... the guppy is soo hot :p

I think I have four male guppies and two female platys, can anybody suggest nay ways of sexing please?

Also, how do you sex goldfish? In our other tank I have no idea what sex's we have.

Male guppies and platies have a gonopodium which is a modified fin which delivers sperm into the female (ref. from this link). This is a tubelike fin by the anal fin, which then can bring forward at times. Sort of like an erection I guess :D

The following was obtained for goldfish at this link...
Goldfish become sexually mature when they reach 3 to 5 inches or so. In a pond setting, this usually occurs after about a year. Fancier goldfish, since they grow slower and to a smaller size than regular goldfish, sexually mature at a smaller size/length. The exact age of maturity varies with the variety of goldfish and its living situation and can occur anywhere from 9 months to 2 years after hatching.

Some people will say that sexing goldfish is only possible during breeding. During this time, males chase females who lay eggs. Also, males develop white spots or pimples on their gill covers called breeding tubercles. Often, people mistakenly believe these white spots to be the parasite white spot or ick and treat the healthy fish. Females may develop a tubercle or two but not nearly as many as a mature male. Even during non-breeding times, an experienced person can sex adult goldfish. Koi can be sexed similarly to goldfish but not as readily.

FYI...Goldfish are cold water species so it should be kept with other cold water fish, unlike guppies, platties, etc. which are tropical water fish. Also, goldfish require at least 10 gallons per each fish. (Ref. A Guide for Goldfish Care)

Hehe, thanx.

I have four goldfish in a fifty gal, no worries ;)

Yep, I think all my guppies are males.... lol... gonopodium -- wouldn't it be easier to call it a willy? :p
