i am considering buying a nutrafin co2 kit to help my plants grow better, however i was also looking at buying a airpump for my fish too is this just a stupid idea as the air pump will get rid of the co2? or is it a good option?

The air pump will push the co2 out the water so your have to pump in alot more co2 to keep the levels up

The surface agitation produced by the air pump will drive off CO2. Some water movement is good for surface gas exchange however too much drives off CO2.
How big is your tank? DIY CO2 at the best of times is un-stable and the output varies (because it's produced by the respiring yeast) but on tanks over 12-15gallon there really isn't much point in using DIY CO2 as there is just too much water compared to the CO2 going into it. A lot of the time, I would choose liquid carbon product over DIY. Obviously on large tanks with lots of light, pressurized CO2 is the way forward.
