Ok so i was in the LFS a couple of weeks ago and saw these fish, fell in love and bought two, read up a bit when i came home so know i've got two females, my question is should i go and get two males now the females are laying eggs, or one male or just not bother, it's a well planted tank thats been established for two years.

Hi ADelphi
I would take the least colourful one back and exchange it for a male, good luck in what ever you decide

When they seem to be sorting out dominance when they were first put in this tank one became a lesser colour, but now they are both vivid in colour. I'd feel guilty taking one back as they seem happy. I think i'll ask in the LFS that i got the females from, i'd like to try with a couple of males. They guarded their eggs quite fiercely but all were gone this morning. Do two females normally lay eggs together and guard together.

Anyways thankyou for the reply.

what size is the tank, as a pair of rams takes up a territory of approx 20g (10g per fish) so you would a tank of at least 40g to accomodate 2 pairs
