Right now I have two male german blue rams and one female in a planted 75 gallon tank.

One of the males went missing for a couple weeks and I had assumed he was dead but recently he came out of hiding and I noticed my female had a small white spot above her eye a couple days ago. It just looked like a scale was missing or something.

Today her eye is pretty swollen and the white spot is still there.

I just tested my water and it read

0 ammonia
0 nitrite
5 nitrate

I was going to do a water change but I am not sure if I should or if that would stress her out.

I am pretty sure she got the injury from the male rams fighting over her.

I have been trying to add more females to my tank but every time I do, they get killed by my pair of rams.

She is still eating and swimming perfectly fine and her colors are still very bright.

What should I do?

I couldn't really get a good picture of it but it is the eye on the opposite side kind of bulging.

Can you isolate her to a hospital tank.
The white spot does it have a pink or red centre, or a pink or red lining around the outside of the spot?

Unfortunately I don't have a hospital tank and capturing her in my tank would probably take a couple hours. Last time I was able to catch a fish who was too aggressive for my tank it took 3 adults and over 2 hours, a lot of stress.

It is just a white mark that appears to look like a scrape of some sort. No red marks or pink lining at all. Actually the white spot is getting smaller and the eye seems to be a little less swollen than this morning.

I did a 20% water change just in case.

Keep preforming water changes.
Glad to hear there been some improvement.

Good Luck.

Thanks. Her eye is still swollen today but the white patch is healing quickly so I hope the swelling will subside after. I am going to try some melafix.

How is the fish?

Unfortunately she died, her eye kept getting worse and the white patch on her head looked to be getting deeper, kind of similar to hole in the head? But I don't understand because my water was near perfect when I tested it. My male ram just died yesterday too, he had a small white spot on his head but it was clearing up. He started to float on his side and his body was slightly bent and then he just died.

The alpha male in my tank is still alive and looks beautiful. Bright colors, no spots or anything wrong with him. All of my other fish look fine and are eating and no white spots. I tested my water yesterday - Ammonia- 0 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-10

I did a 25% water change yesterday and my fish look perfectly fine, no signs of illness. I have no idea what happened to my rams.

I like to think I'm a pretty good fish keeper, but I seem to have no joy with Rams. they are my favourite fish by a mile, but will go from healthy to floating upside down in no time!

I kept them a long time ago and I never remember having any problems with them but now I have lost so many and I think it might all be from my large male bullying them and stressing them out by constantly chasing them around the tank. :(

Sorry for your loss. R.I.P.

White patches on the head, and white spots on the head can be columnaris.
