I got this cup baby at meijer. and when I got him I seem to notice he had 2 small bumbs on his head and they seem to have white dots somewhat. Iv only had him for a week and he's energetic and eats normel. I feed him once a day and is kept in a 3.5 gallon filtered tank. I dont have a heater and is about 67dagrees Fahrenheit in my basement. he is fed bettaMin tropical medly flakes. I am going to try ich Med for him soon if it gets worse. any help im sorry theirs no photo's my camera sux :/ I dont want him to die...if he does how should I clean the tank and also what does it mean to clean 20%-30% of water does it meant only empty under half and add new water?

Ok that temp is far to low bettas should be kept in temps between 79-82'f they thrive on heat

Those meds may work but you have to be absolt sure thats what ur treating

20-30% water change means take out say 30% of the water

Say ur tank was 90L a 30% water change would leave you with 60L in the tank dont take half the water out

Just take out 1/4 of the tanks high of water

Hope this helpes and please get a heater and with out a filter you will need to do daily water changes what size is ur tank and whats ur water stats?

I would treat him with salt (about 1 TBSP), get a small heater and heat to around 80 degrees, and do small, frequent water changes. It could be anything really. Fungus, tumor, ich, or Tuberculosis come to mind when I see the symptoms you listed.

Take a look at this site and symptoms and go from there: http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm

definotly not fish tb no way in hell if you do get conserned by this illness though i have done an article on the fis hemergencies thread

It's a long shot, but you just never know.
My bet is on tumor, and in my experience, they almost always die a few months down the line. Regardless of treatment.

I also noticed that he has some tears along his tail could it be fin rot?

He could definitely have fin rot in addition to whatever is going on with his head, but the fin rot wouldn't cause his head to look like that.

Definitely clean the tank out really good if he does die.
