scenario...

Iā€™ve had 2 danios that were bought as males. One got huge for a few weeks. Now small again this week.

I bought a balloon molly 2 days ago. My rainbow is attacking her. I put her in a vase overnight til I can figure out what to do about the rainbows aggressions and woke to babies in her vase. I did move a plant and substrate into her vase. I thought it was a male but google tells me female due to her anal fin.

they are Molly Fry
Darn I was hoping if anything the danios since they stay so small. I wouldnā€™t mind getting a second tank for those guys but Iā€™m not a huge fan of the balloon molly. My son thought it was cool. How can you tell itā€™s molly just out of curiosity?

Danios, tetras, barbs, gouramis, goldfish, rainbowfish and most other fishes have very small (2-4mm long) babies that are transparent and sit just under the surface of the water for the first few weeks of life.

Livebearers (mollies, guppies, platies, swordtails) have much bigger babies that are more developed and have colour in their bodies.
