Hello all, I’m not a very experienced fish keeper... that being said, we are getting ready to move 10 hours away. I have a 40 gallon tank with 10 guppies, 3 mollies, 4 dojo loaches, 1 pleco, and a bunch of snails, as well as a 5 gallon fry tank with somewhere around 30-40 guppy fry. Re-homing the fish is not an option, my kids freaked out. My current plan is to get some 5 gallon buckets with lids to put the fish in, but what else can I do to ensure their safety and comfort?

Post #2 has all you need to know about moving a fish tank long distance.

New to this so not sure if replying in right area or if someone already provided an answer. You will obviously need to remove much of the water or transfer to smaller aquarium for the trip. Get some battery air pumps. They are often noisy but should do the trick to keep them oxygenated. Everyone should have some in case of power outages. Living in Iowa I am so glad I did!

Put all the fish into bags and into a polystyrene box. Fish travel better in bags. They will be fine for about 48 hours.
