Help Id Fish

some of my neighbors have a bunch of these fish, they arn't sure what kind they are but tell me they are african cichlids, so can you please help me out? they asked me if i wanted some cuz i am redoing my 55gal, and i mentioned maybe turning it into a cichlid tank, so i need to figure out what kind they are for me to decide if i want them. thx

Convict Cichlid? It's a bit to colourful for a Convict so I think it's a Honduran Red Point. Central American in that case and not African.

its a normal convict. The purplish sheen you are seeing is from the reflection of the gravel. I keep and breed these so I know my convicts

hondurian red points kind of look like convict x firemouth hybrids

ok thanks guys, convict it is, now i have to decide if i want a tank with them or not...
