HELP! This is my betta, his name is lumos. I got him about 2 months ago. I believe he is a cellophane betta. He lives in about a 3 gallon giant glass bowl with a heater and live plants and i religiously clean his water and condition it. He swims alot and is not figgity and eats and has a very great appetite and doesn't stay at the bottom of the tank, in fact, he swims all over the place and also recognizes me. when light hits him he is a brilliant turquoise all over his body. But i've been noticing some strange red spots on him. I am so scared that it might be septicemia TT^TT please help! here are some pictures of him. the first photo is not great but that was when i first got him and when he was in a smaller bowl , his new bowl is ALOT bigger compared to his small body.

when i first got him.

The darkening is completely normal, many light colored fish with white bodies are known to change colors, he doesn't look physically unhealthy and he looks quite well.

He looks fine to me :) I think he's lovely. Those white bettas can be a real shock. My solid white HM boy is now 1/3 red. I've changed his name to "Peppermint"

The fish looks to be in GREAT condition, especially given your description of his behavior. It is common for bettas to "change" color or "grow into" their color. Red being the most common as it is the dominant gene.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Hes lovely!
cheers

Unless your betta is..
-Not eating
-Not reacting to movements around the tank
-Scrathing against decor
-Looks like a "pine-cone" (dropsy symptoms)
-Has white, fuzzy spots
-Inflamed gills or eye sockets
or
-Losing their tail, or tips of their tail turning black (ulcers)

I would not worry. If you want to learn more on betta fish diseases, read about the symptoms here; http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm
