I am giving away my lizard and want some fish. I want easy-to-care-for fish but interesting ones. I found some sharks at Wall-Mart and like them a lot. I think they are called Balla Sharks they are Grey with dark black stripes on their body and their fins, and mouth are tipped black also. They get to about 8-9inches long I think. They are really interesting they are fresh water sharks they live in groups or that is how they are housed at wall-mart I am really wanting to get some I think my tank is big enough it is 15gallon wide and long and 30gallon tall. any help would be appreciated.

More likely bala's get to a foot long (about 30cm) or slighlty longer. How can your tank be 15 gallons wide and 30 gallons tall? I'm confused  How about some dimensions in either inches or cm, please.

edit---
measurements in length, width(front of tank to the back of tank), and height

Ok... never go to wall mart to buy fish its dreadfull. Find where your LFS (local fish shop) is. Balla sharks/silver sharks grow a bit bigger than 8-9" about 10-12" and they need a fast current and secure lid as they like to jump.

How big is your aquarium?
Is it cycling?
Have you got all the stuff like heaters, filter, gravel ornaments, de-chorinator?

Tom.

Yea...what Fish123fish said...READ this on fishless cycling

When you clean your lizard tank out, do not use any soaps or detergents. Traces of that left behind will kill fish.

Have you had fish before? It sounds like you might not have much experience? Let us know how much to help :good:

Oh and :hi: to the forum!!! It's a great place for gathering info, getting advice/help, chatting and viewing other people's tanks and getting ideas...and the list goes on and on...

One thing unless you know for 100% the info a fish place employee gives is accurate DON'T listen to them. Hold off and ask more knowledgeable people first. The employees don't always know much and in some cases will tell you whatever you want to hear to make a sale....unfortunately

I have a 56 litre aqaurium with a fast current. Any suggestions?

56l huh erm how many gallons is that?

Well I know it is not that big a tank so I think its better sticking to smaller fish. The said that it had a fast current. That would mean that Danios possibly for the upper section and tetras for the middle section and some corrys for the lower section.

That's about 15 us gallons. that's not a whole lot of room to work with. Read this It's recommendations for a 10 gallon, which would work for a 15 gallon, as well :good:

I just open a new window and type 56 liters to gallons in the google search box and it brings it up for me in seconds :good:

I've come to the conclusion that it's about 1/3 of the literage...
example. 90 liters is actually 24 gallons....so it's a tad less than a third of the literage b/c a third of 90 is 30.

or theres one on the forum, top right aquarium calculator.

i have a tank the same size i am stocking it with endlers (male) guppies (male) and a few shrimp for the bottom :good:

i suggest you go to a local fish store, look at the fish, make a note of any ou like then come back here and we can say whether or not they are suitable for your tank and what numbers to get if they are :good:

I don't like clicking on that b/c it takes away the current page. If it opened a separate box, that would be better. I guess I could have it up in another window! Thanks!!

^ it can be done, right click and open in new window, thats what i do, i hate having to go back and forward between pages
