I have 6 zebra danios, 4 sunburst platies, 1 male betta and 1 rainbow shark (little baby one, not even an inch long yet) in my 48 gallon tank.
Everyone has been getting along great for the last month or so and all of the sudden I noticed someone had been biting one of the platies tails. So, I assumed it was the male betta because he's the only one that shows any aggression at all. Three days ago, I took the betta out of the aquarium and put him back in his betta bowl on a temporary basis. Then last night I came home and saw the danios taking turns nipping at the same platy's tail! Why are they doing this? And why are they picking on just that one platy?
I need to know what to do, if I take out the platy they are picking on, will they just pick on a different one? I thought zebra danios were supposed to be good community fish, I have 6 of them, so I think they should be happy together.
Any thoughts?
