I have a 7inch Bala shark, it has decided to take a large piece of gravel and get it lodged in its mouth. when i catch it to try and remove it - its just gets more stressed. i have been doing as much reading as humanly possible over the past 20 min, (since i got home from work), to find out how i can sedate the fish to remove the rock asap. i have been reading and can not seem to find an accurate drop or ml to gallon or liter solution. please any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I have been reading more and more over this site and several several others and i am only seeing ways to use the Clove Oil to kill the fish - im just trying to get it to calm down for 10 seconds and stop struggeling so i can remove the rock, not kill it!

Wrap the fish in a cloth soaked in tank water.
Remove the stones with tweezers.
Get someone to hold the fish for you.

Wilder thanks for your responce. http://www.fishdoc.net/articles/details.php?articleId=15 is also another site that i could find. BUT the vet said i could spend 150 bucks on some MS222 from him OR get some clove oil, 15 drops in 1 gallon, fish in for 20-30 seconds, take fish out do what needs to be done, it gives you 3-5 min, then place fish in some tank water for 5 min, then back into general population. but the biggest thing he said is that you MUST use 100% pure Clove seed/bud oil, not the 85% Eugenol stuff. Well im about to do this so ill come back in 15 min when it should be over and hopefully the fish will be alive!

well it worked 100%,

1 gallon of tank water
15 drops of 100% clove oil
8 seconds, you can watch the fish stop breathing, took him out of clove mix
grabbed with open hand
removed rock with tweezers
2 min of fish in separate tank water
100% back to normal
back into main population, feed the tank
all fish ate including him

Thanks again Wilder, i hope this helps anyone else who needs to sedate a fish for a brief time. but once again i can not stress enough to make sure and use the correct Clove Oil.

im glad it worked! i would ave been freaking out so much that i might kill him from the oil

at least hes all better now :)

Or bless him.
Glad it worked.
Ask it to be pinned.
I did a search on the site for clove oil and it fetched nothing up.
Good thread on how many drops to use, as you can over do it.
Glad it had a happy ending, well done.
