Help!2 Female Gouramis Have Died Since Been In The Tank With 1male

i have had a male and female thick-lipped gourami. they both got introduced to the tank together. unfortunatley the female died not long after. i then introduced another female a week later, she was doing good then we lost her just over a week later. there has been no sign of any agression what so ever. any one know why this is happening and any tips on introducing wife number 3?

Could it be an infection? Normally if I have this problem I check the water conditions and speak to the store I ourchase them from to see if they treat their water any different or if it's been a common problem with a certain shipment.

I have however read that males can be aggessive towards new tank mates if he's the only male around. A local shop keeper suggested I changed the tank lay out to confuse a male golden Gourami when I was adding a female. Dunno about you but it worked
