Hi

All of a sudden mY male Honey G has started chasing my female a lot. I've noticed if over the last couple of days but today I can see he's trying to nip her tail (at least I think that's what he's trying to do). This is strange right? Would getting another female help? I saw some Red Honeys are my LFS yesterday so it's an option.

BUT I'm also confused. I've read today that the female is usually bigger than the male but that isn't so with my 2. My male is about 2 inches (more with tail) and female about 1.5 inches. I'm now wondering if it's possible that I have 2 males? I forget who it was that saw my photos before but they all seemed to think I had 1 male, 1 female. Plus they did build a bubble nest when I first got them which I guess they wouldn't do if they were both male?

Lol so yeah, back to my original statement......HELLLLLLLLLLLP!

Simple way of sexing them is males are generally more colourfull, with females being quite dull in colour, usually pale. I've always kept these in 3's, having 1 male with 2 females. That way any aggression he may show is dispersed between two females. Its usually quite common for the male to chase the females around. I had a male Opaline that liked to chase his female around. He never did any damage, not saying yours wont, but it was never an issue of a fish's life/health being in question.
